PRINTS FOR THE CITY

We’re collecting photos, flyers, and stories from people in the community to preserve what happened and how we're rebuilding. Submissions may be used in zines, posters, or future storytelling projects to raise funds and document our collective memory.

Objectives

  • Counter Erasure

    This work documents who was here, what mattered, and what was lost — not just in dollars, but in community, lineage, and memory. And when people have documentation of presence and loss, they have a stronger basis to resist erasure or demand just compensation.

  • Put the Community on Record

    Residents can speak for themselves. This archive aims to create material evidence that: St. Louis is rich in memory and meaning. There is already investment here — emotional, familial, historical

  • Create Collective Power

    People care and are watching. Residents are organizing. Funds are moving into and through the community, not just extracted from it. This is not just collecting stories—we’re building a network of contributors, witnesses, and participants.

The May 16, 2025 tornado devastated the residents of Saint Louis City. North City residents were hit the hardest. PRINTS FOR THE CITY is a community-led archive to preserve, remember and amplify the history and lineage of the city’s North side. Join The Noir Bookshop + Noir Print Co. in memory keeping, and amplifying the stories of residents most affected.

Your photos, memories and experiences matter. We are aiming to preserve history, memory and presence through archiving and collecting. Your story and images may be printed in a physical zine, book or on our website. 60% of proceeds from the sale of published materials will support North Saint Louis City directly, while the remainder of proceeds will fund publication, materials and sustainability of this project.
